For the easiest installation, look no further than plug and play cables. Plug and play cables are thin and flexible making them perfect for DIY’ers or those people who do not have much experience installing cables. These cables come in a variety of predetermined lengths, their ends are color-coded and already attached. True to their name, all someone has to do is plug them in. They will work in no time!

Plug and play cables are usually not shielded. Be careful of placement to avoid interference from outside sources. Since they come in predetermined lengths, they may not be available in the length needed for a particular installation. The thin gauge of the conductor in these cables may also pose a problem for really long runs.

·RG59 Siamese Cable 

RG59 Siamese cables are like having two cables in one. The Siamese cables include an RG59 coax cable and power cable. One cable can perform the job duties of two: transmitting the video feed and providing power to the cameras. They can be shielded, therefore be better protected from interference than plug-and-play cables. They can also come in bulk, meaning the installer can use as much or as little as needed.

Siamese cables are usually more difficult to deal with due to the installer needing to know how to use specific tools to install the proper connectors and run the cable.
